Graduation #1

I promise I'm not ignoring you! I've just been out of town for the past few days. My cousin graduated from Northwestern State in Louisiana with his Bachelors in Liberal Arts on Friday. I took off a couple of days to head on out there to support him. My parents are actually his god-parents so he's practically my brother.

The graduate and my family....
So proud of my cousin!
The whole familia that made the long drive to Lousiana at the Mexican restaurant we ate at after the ceremony.

The sad thing is that he never thought he would be able to do it. He's actually the first boy on my mother's side of the family to complete college. He had so many obstacles..financially, personally, emotionally but he overcame it all to finish his degree!! Congrats Gordito, this cousin is so proud of you!

After the graduation we headed to Shreveport to do some gambling a la Yasmin-style at the blackjack and Texas Hold 'Em tables. I came out about even so that makes me a winner :)

It felt good to come back today though and resume a normal eating schedule. I felt so bloated and guilty for not exercising in these past 5 days.

Oatmeal was in order: coconut, thawed peaches, sliced banana, and a vanilla Chobani yogurt. Come to mama!!

Speaking of mommas, Happy Mother's Day to all you fabulous ladies out there! I spent the day with my fabulous mother watching Sherlock Holmes on DVD and cleaning the house.

Lunch: Food for Life brown rice tortilla spread with pumpkin, barbeque sauce, and goat cheese. Baked with spinach and chickpea and zucchini. Yum, yum, yum!

Dinner: A baked sweet potato, zucchini, and spicy veggie tempeh topped with Organicville barbeque sauce.

Alright, next graduation coming up is mine on Friday! Excited and nervous at the same time but I'm ready for that Masters damnit! Time to get ready for a busy week at school. Love y'all!
