Friday night was a last minute birthday party for a friend. I showed up, chatted, and met a potential date? Hmmmm...we shall see! However, the night was spoiled by my supposed "friend". I try not to drink these days and will usually nurse one drink but my "friend" said to take a shot of vodka for the birthday girl's sake. I took the shot he gave me but vodka it was not. Everclear was the culprit. My eyes started burning and I ran to the sink to wash out my mouth. I was SO PISSED, I left right then and there. Makes me wonder what else he would lie about or put in my drink. My mom always warned me in college to watch my drinks so a warning to all you girls out there. Be aware. I get mad just thinking about it...ass-hole...sorry for my language.
Saturday night was a lot better. It was a girls' night at my friend's house to have a Pokeno night. What's Pokeno? It's like a twist of poker and bingo. Each of us brings a $10 gift and if you win a round you get to pick one. After the first round, you can steal other people's prizes. We played until midnight and someone stole my gorgeous turquoise necklace I had won so I ended up leaving empty handed. It's okay though because I had a fun time with the girls. We meet once a month and they're a solid group of fun. Do you have a regular get together with your girls?
Breakfast this morning was delicious with Chelsea Handler's My Horizontal Life in the background. I can't put this book down!
Half a cantaloupe hollowed out with blueberries, Chobani plain Greek yogurt, and Nature's Path pumpkin flax granola.
So much fun to eat...why do I not add this more often to my routine of breakfasts?
Lunch was amazing as well!! I've always been fearful of cheese and dairy other thank yogurt. I hear all the bad hype about it causing acne, gas, bloatedness, etc...but at a local farmer's market I spied some fresh goat cheese. Goat cheese is my weakness, I'll admit. I can't believe I've cut it from my diet so I had to return its appearance.Quesadilla goodness of a brown rice tortilla grilled with goat cheese, avocado, grilled chicken, fresh basil, and pepper.
The insides all melted together and served with some red bell pepper strips on the side. Acne and gas be damned! Sometimes food is just too good to pass up so dairy is back on :)
This morning in the Sunday's paper I saw this funny comic. The Food Pyramid....As Tailored To School Cafeterias.
Grains: Pretzel rods, goldfish, crackers, French toast stix, and that coating on corn dogs and mozzarella sticks.Veggies: French fries, pickle spears, and ketchup.
Fruit: Cherry jello, Scooby Doo fruit snacks, orange popsicle.
Dairy: Pudding, ice cream, mozzarella sticks.
Protein: Tacos, mystery meat, and stuff on stick.
Fats: (Covered)
Where's Jamie Oliver when you need him? Enjoy your Sunday! 8 days until my 27th birthday and counting :)

Hey chica! Congrats on the socializing, the potential date, and branching out with food... so proud!!!! That sucks about your alleged friend... now that my sister is about to start college, I tell her all the time, never take a drink from someone you don't know, and if you put your drink down, get a new one! I'm glad you were ok... ugh, Everclear's nasty!
LOVE that food pyramid! Sadly, it's true! Poor Jamie Oliver- all the decks are stacked against him.
Hurray for the return of cheese! Goat cheese is too fabulous not to eat! I'm having a similar dinner myself- chicken, but Colby Jack cheese, not goat- and spinach and salsa and my main staple, the sweet potato! :-)
Yay for your fabulous weekend- enjoy what's left of it! :-)
I love that cartoon!
I'm so glad you are LIVING life and things are going well--WOOHOO!
:)
